Homework is an integral part of every subject. It is part of the continuous learning process of acquiring knowledge, mastering new skills, and developing concepts. It is mandatory that students thoroughly complete homework assignments.
Students are given exams in all subject areas. In addition all required New York State examinations are administered. High school regents’ credit is earned by many of our 8th grade students for mathematics and science.
Report cards are issued three times a year (December, March, and June) and in conjunction with parent teacher-conferences, and periodic reports so that parents are kept informed.
The Parents and guardians of students that do not meet requirements for promotion or graduation are informed either by conference or in writing.
A number of field trips are scheduled during the year. To participate, students must have a trip permission form signed by a parent or guardian and returned to the child’s teacher with any trip fee.
Textbooks are on loan from the school and must be returned at the end of the year or upon withdrawal from the school. Parents will be billed for lost, stolen, damaged, or unreturned textbooks. Parents are entitled to workbooks. Most other required books and supplies may be purchased at the school store.
